I'll try to post some pics of Isaac in his cute little costume later on. But I wanted to share some photos of him and his best buddy. We've always known that Mona loves to give Isaac kisses. Well, now he's returning the favor!!

We've been home from the hospital since Thursday night. Isaac is doing MUCH better, but this dang cold is still lingering. :( His nose is constantly dripping with all sorts of fun stuff, making it difficult to breathe through his nose...which makes nursing quite a feat. On top of that, I suspect that we have another tooth or two trying to poke through. With all of these things going on, the poor guy just is not sleeping well at all, making it difficult for me as well. We are all feeling quite exhausted over here. In other news, Isaac is really into speed crawling these days...and cruising along the furniture. I've included a video of that below.

We're home

They let us go home late last night, per our request. Isaac's stats were stable and I just knew that he'd sleep much better in his own crib. He is still sick, so they sent us home with a breathing machine (we're giving him treatments every 4 hours) and he is also still getting steroids for the next 4 days. He is definitely doing much better...but still quite raspy. Thank you SO much for all of the thoughts/prayers! I really appreciate all of your wonderful support!!

We didn't get much sleep overnight at the hospital, so last night, Kevin and his mom made it possible for me to sleep without interruption (with one tiny exception to nurse him at 4am). It was a beautiful night of sleep for me. That said, I am STILL so exhausted. Guess it may take a few days for us to get back into a normal schedule.

Anyway...thanks, again, for all the support. We definitely felt it!!

Isaac's in the Hospital!!

Well, after eight and a half months of never being sick, he finally caught a cold. And it's a doozy! It started when he woke up yesterday sounding hoarse. He had a runny nose and pretty labored breathing all day. When he coughed it sounded like a barking seal. I just thought it was a nasty cold. Then I did a little research to find that what he had sounded an awful lot like Croup.

Well whatever it was...it wasn't getting better. So I got him in to see the doctor this morning. They established that his lungs were filled with fluid and that he was wheezing really badly. They gave him a breathing treatment, hoping that would do the trick (but secretly knowing it probably wouldn't). And then said that he would need to be admitted into the hospital. Now.

So we drove from the doctor's office straight to the hospital. The admission process took some time, but then we finally got a room. It has been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG day. :) Isaac normally naps at 9:30am and then again at 1:30pm...for 1-2 hours each nap. Today his naps were at 12:00pm (for 30 minutes) and at 3:00pm (for 30 minutes). He usually goes to bed around 7pm. It's 8:50 as I type this, and he is still crawling back and forth like a crazed, caged animal. He pulls up to standing on one side, then falls down and crawls to the other side...pulls up to standing, and then does this over and over. He is breathing so heavily too. He has been up since 7am...and is showing no signs of slowing down.

He has been given breathing treatments (to open up his airways) every 3 hours. And that will continue all throughout the night. :) And after just speaking with a nurse, apparently this crazed caged animal thing is a side-effect of what they are giving him. Oh joy!! This should be an interesting night!!

All in all, I have been very impressed with Isaac's disposition. Despite feeling so yucky, we have gotten comment after comment from the nurses on how happy he is. :) He's pretty spunky and you wouldn't know he was sick just by looking at him. Now listen to him breath for a couple seconds, and you can tell. But hopefully his breathing will be better by tomorrow so we can go home!!

Anyway...I will try to update later. It is now 9:05pm and he's still awake over here. Something tells me I won't be getting much sleep tonight. Hehe.

A visit from cousin Morgan...

We've enjoyed having the Trowbridges staying with us for an extended weekend. Isaac is definitely entertained by his 2-year-old cousin. And she is entertained by Mona. All is well in the Ober household. :) Here are a few pictures from this weekend...

Yesterday, Isaac had his first real boo-boo. I was sitting 2 feet away from him outside on our deck. He was crawling around, playing with a toy lawn mower. He pushed the mower off the deck onto the patio, and he came tumbling after. Face first onto the concrete. He got a big owie on his forehead and some scrapes on his nose. Luckily when we woke up this morning, they had faded quite a bit. Here's a photo from yesterday:

Freaky Friday...

Decided to chop my hair off!! Still trying to get used to it, but at least it'll be MUCH easier to take care of! :)

Or maybe it's just babies in general. I turn my head for one minute, and Isaac has put something else in his mouth. It's really driving me nuts. Maybe I should be more vigilant? But that gives him no freedom (which he is actually really enjoying right now). He is our little explorer...crawling (very quickly, I might add) around the house just looking for things to get in to! :) I will catch him chomping on something (picture a baby looking like they're chewing gum), only to realize that he's been chewing on stuffing from one of Mona's toys, or a stray piece of carpet fiber, or a piece of grass that managed to make it's way onto my floor, or a tiny piece of plastic that was clear so probably got looked over by us! UGH!! It doesn't seem to matter how much I sweep or vacuum or clean. This kid ALWAYS finds the fun little things he's NOT supposed to have!

I am just praising God that he has not choked...yet. ;) The only thing he has gagged on has been mommies finger swiping through his mouth, trying to dig out whatever morsel he managed to find. At least he's not subtle about it...I can always tell when he's got something in there. I guess this is all part of exploring his environment. I'm just waiting until I reach into his mouth to find something REALLY gross. I don't even want to imagine what that might be!! Hehe.

Isaac loves dogs...all shapes and sizes!

On one of our recent trips back to Cincinnati, we stayed with a good friend of mine and her horses (I mean...dogs!). :) Compared to Mona, her dogs really are pretty huge. Here are some pics of Isaac laughing at and riding Brodie...a Great Dane!



On a different trip to Cincy, we stayed with another friend who has a German Shepard. Isaac was in LOVE! He is fearless when it comes to dogs...and I am so happy about that!

Our Little Pumpkin...

8 months old today!!

One year ago today, we found out that we were having a little boy! We were giddy with excitement as we watched our little baby kicking around inside my womb through the ultrasound. We've come a long way in just one year! Just the other night I was remembering back to when I could feel Isaac kicking inside me. Some days I miss being pregnant...but mostly I feel so blessed to have this son.

He continues to bring us so much joy. His favorite things to do these days are playing in the dog dish (much to my dismay) and pulling up onto EVERYTHING. I think he views our dining room chairs as a little jungle gym, as he loves spending time under there. He is an active little guy. ALWAYS on the go. It has been fun to watch his little personality develop. He can be quite a ham. I think he enjoys making people laugh...and has got quite a laugh himself.

He is still very attracted to cell phones, remote controls, etc. Pretty much anything he is NOT supposed to have. :) He still hates diaper changes (only because he'd rather roll over and be crawling)...who has time to just lay on their back, anyway? But he LOVES being outside...and really enjoys going for long walks in his stroller. I hope the weather doesn't get too cold, too quick!!

We've been having some pretty rough nights (and therefore, days) for the past week or so. I think a certain little person is teething pretty badly right now. :( I wish there were something I could do for him when he's so uncomfortable. I'm just glad that this teething stuff doesn't last forever! :)
