We went for a walk yesterday and ended up hanging out with our friend, Wendy, who lives down the street. She LOVES Isaac and his little toes!

After giving him a bath last night, he got to have some "nakey-time" and was ALL giggles. I think he enjoys hanging out without his clothes on!!

Been awhile...

Sorry for not updating sooner! We have been SUPER busy around here. :o) We enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend and a visit from Grama and Grampa Ober! Isaac loves all the cuddling he can get. Hehe. He has been growing SO fast. Over the past two days, when I have had him laying on the floor with some toys, he has surprised me by picking a toy up and putting it in his mouth!! He is also learning cause and effect...like when he kicks his feet in his bouncy seat, it makes the hanging toys move and make noise! Or like when he grabs a fistful of mommy's hair, she will say "Owww!" He also enjoys watching people. And when they catch him staring at them, he gives a huge gummy grin! Simply adorable.

He is now rolling over in his crib at EVERY nap. He still isn't quite sure what to do once he gets on his back, so he starts talking very loudly, as if to say, "Helloooo...somebody help me please." He still has his fussy days, but overall, he seems to be a very chill baby. And if we ever want to get a laugh out of him, all we have to do is sing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and he gets so worked up laughing he almost forgets to breathe! It is hilarious! He continues to bring so much joy into our lives! I praise God every day for him. Here are some recent pics...

We got a REAL laugh!!

So yesterday, I decided to sing a song with Isaac, not realizing that it was going to be the funniest thing ever to him! Now I'm not sure if he was laughing at the song or my singing or something else, but whatever it was, it was stinkin cute! AND...I just happened to have the camera nearby and caught some of it on tape! :o) Here's the video...

There's not really anything new to report in Isaacdom. He is doing well and keeps growing like a weed! He is the king of DROOL, thanks to his constant state of teething. :o) OH...there is something new. I just remembered! As of today, we have started cloth-diapering. I am really excited about saving money AND the environment...plus they are super cute! I have a photo of one of them below. Kevin and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary this weekend by staying over-night at a local exotic hotel. We had a wonderful time, though we were not alone. It was our first romantic getaway with a pack-n-play in tow! That's right...Isaac tagged along. And he did great! He even got to swim in the big jacuzzi tub in our room! Anyway...here are some recent pics. Enjoy!

PRAYER NEEDED...

This weekend was a difficult weekend for my friend Paula, who had the quintuplets on May 1st. They got a call at 3am Sunday morning, saying that Addison had developed necrotizing enterocolitis and was going to need surgery. You can read more about the condition by clicking on the link. Little Addy went into surgery around 8am, and came out fine. Doctors had to remove half of her small intestines and part of her large intestines, and now she still has a LONG recovery to endure.

They also learned later in the day that Gabriella (Addison's twin, and the smallest of the five) was put on a ventilator because her lungs are not functioning right, and her heart looks way bigger than it should be, so she may require heart surgery!! On top of all that, she is also beginning to show signs of having the same infection of the intestines that Addy has.

I think Ariel and Micah have also had some minor issues (sleep apnea, bradychardia, etc) over the past couple of days.

As you can imagine, Paula and Jamson are so stressed right now. They are spending so much time at the hospital and are struggling with how to even process all of this. Paula said that as she was holding little Addy before surgery, she just kept looking into her eyes, thinking that it may have been the last time she would hold her baby alive. And she may have to go through this again and again. The roller coaster of emotions is becoming quite overwhelming (and super exhausting). So would you please join us in praying for this beautiful family?

Pray for those sweet, sweet babies....for their health and healing. And pray for Paula and Jamson...pray for God to comfort them...for them to get the rest they need...and to have strength and peace in this trying time. Thank you!!

Tickles and Hiccups

I cannot get over how much I absolutely adore this baby! It seems that as each day passes, I just love him more and more. Wow. Here's a video of us playing today. I apologize for my annoying voice throughout it. I was trying to do whatever I could to get a little laugh out of him...and I think I succeeded! Oh...and I also apologize for the fact that his head is sort of cut off throughout. It's not easy trying to record these things by myself.

a couple other things...

I am REALLY pumped about the idea of making our own baby food. (I still have another three months before he'll even start on it, though.) I have found a really nifty machine that multitasks as a steamer, blender, warmer and defroster all in one. Pretty sweet. I'll be purchasing said machine in the very near future. Here's a photo of what I'm talking about:

And I want to be sure not to neglect our first born baby....Mona. She has been AMAZING with Isaac. She loves him to pieces and is working on self-control with the whole licking thing. She still goes straight for the mouth (heck...wouldn't you if you were a dog?). :o) Anyway...here's a new pic of my precious Mona Lisa:

isaac update...

So I weighed my little man this morning. And clothed, he weighs in at 16lbs, 7oz!! He can still fit into most of his 3-6 month clothes, but has also started wearing 9-month clothes already too!! He's getting so big! He has started to really enjoy his bouncy seat, exersaucer, and singing himself to sleep. He is smiling a lot more, and has even tried laughing a few times. SO cute!! Oh...and he LOVES chewing on his fist (it's always his right one, so maybe that means he'll be right-handed?).

Isaac had had a GREAT week or two (barely any reflux issues, not colicky, etc.). But for the past few days, he has been MISERABLE. Here's what I'm talking about...

And here's why...

I know it's kind of hard to see, but he is cutting some teeth. His gums are red and swollen in two spots on the bottom, and one on the top. The poor guy can't get a break! The two teeth on the bottom are already cutting through the gums (you can see and feel the teeth!!)!

So we're just having some extra cuddle time throughout the days, and taking Tylenol to help with the pain. Aside from the whole teething thing, everything is going very well! He's such a sweet baby!

Being a mom is FUN!

So I started thinking about being a mom the other day....and I wouldn't trade it for the world! As I was thinking about that, I realized that I'm a new mom when I...

went a full week without even noticing a HUGE zit on my face
walk around all day with songs like the "Itsy-Bitsy Spider and B-I-N-G-O stuck in my head
get really excited about getting to go out to Target all by myself
am shopping, I rarely look for things for me...I'd rather buy baby stuff
have mastered the art of putting on clothes with one hand
have to change my clothes 2-3 times a day because a certain someone has puked on me
get excited about baby poop
go through a gazillion camera batteries a week
actually look forward to showering
haven't seen a movie in MONTHS!
am most amused by a certain little dude's smiles and coos
have done 10 times more laundry that I used to
see other babies, I am interested in what percentiles they are in size
find myself doing the silliest things to get a smile out of my little man
get excited about sleeping in until 7:00am.
